The EDF for service export invoices dated in July 2027 is due by 30 August 2027. That's 30 days from the end of July under Regulation 3(2) of the 2026 export Regulations, and one EDF can cover every July invoice to every foreign client. For services other than software, you may also submit the EDF on or before the date payment is received, if that's earlier. The money for each July invoice must then arrive within 9 months of its own invoice date — between 1 April and 30 April 2028.
Key takeaways
- July 2027 invoices → EDF due 30 August 2027.
- One EDF covers all July invoices, one Part 2B row per invoice.
- Realisation deadlines for July invoices fall in April 2028, counted from each invoice date.
- August is also when you should review June and earlier invoices that are still unpaid.
- GST return dates for July are separate — check the GST portal rather than relying on memory.
The July 2027 timeline at a glance
| Date | What's due or worth doing |
|---|---|
| 1–31 July 2027 | Invoices raised in this window go on the July EDF |
| 30 July 2027 | Previous deadline: the June 2027 EDF should already be filed |
| Early August 2027 | Compile July invoices; prepare the EDF |
| Mid August 2027 | Submit to your AD bank (or STPI for software) and get acknowledgement |
| 30 August 2027 | Last date for the July 2027 EDF |
| 30 September 2027 | Next deadline: the August 2027 EDF |
Filing in the middle of August leaves room for corrections if your bank queries something. Leaving it to 29 or 30 August — especially if either falls on a weekend or bank holiday — is a needless risk. Check the calendar for 2027 and your bank's working days.
Realisation dates for July invoices
Each July invoice starts its own 9-month realisation clock on its invoice date (12 months if invoiced or settled in rupees). Here's how it plays out for a fictional exporter, Brightloom Consulting LLP, based in Chandigarh:
| Invoice | Invoice date | Client country | Amount | Realise by |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BC/E/27-28/061 | 01-Jul-2027 | UK | GBP 5,400 | 01-Apr-2028 |
| BC/E/27-28/064 | 12-Jul-2027 | USA | USD 8,750 | 12-Apr-2028 |
| BC/E/27-28/066 | 23-Jul-2027 | Australia | AUD 6,200 | 23-Apr-2028 |
| BC/E/27-28/069 | 31-Jul-2027 | USA | USD 3,100 | 30-Apr-2028 |
The last row shows a common edge: 31 July plus nine months lands on an April date that doesn't exist, so take 30 April 2028 as the outer limit. Our EDF due date calculator works out both filing and realisation dates so you don't have to count by hand.
At book rates of ₹107 per GBP, ₹84 per USD and ₹55 per AUD, Brightloom's July total for field 1.22 is:
- GBP 5,400 → ₹5,77,800
- USD 11,850 → ₹9,95,400
- AUD 6,200 → ₹3,41,000
Total: ₹19,14,200 — one EDF, four rows, due 30 August 2027.
What else to look at in August
August isn't only about the July EDF. It's a natural point to do a few other checks:
1. Open invoices from late 2026 and early 2027. Invoices dated in November 2026 hit their 9-month realisation deadline on dates in August 2027 — for example, a 30 November 2026 invoice must be realised by 30 August 2027, the same day as the July EDF deadline. If any are still unpaid, your extension request should already be with your bank. Our realisation extension request letter is ready to use.
2. Your ₹10 lakh declarations. For invoices up to ₹10 lakh, your bank may close EDPMS entries on your periodic declaration that the money has been realised. If you file these quarterly, the April–June 2027 quarter's declaration fits naturally into July or August. Use our ₹10 lakh realisation declaration tool.
3. GST returns for July. Your July export invoices also need to be reported in your GST returns. Due dates depend on your return type and scheme, so check the GST portal or ask your CA rather than relying on a date from memory or a forwarded list.
4. LUT status. If you export under LUT, the one filed for FY 2027-28 should already be in place since April. If it isn't, speak to your CA immediately — exporting without it means a different GST route.

July invoices that were paid in advance
Some July invoices will already be paid by the time you file — an annual retainer billed upfront, or a project where the client paid on signing. Those invoices still go on the July EDF. Note the advance and its FIRA reference in the remarks column of that row, so your bank can match money it already holds to the invoice now being declared. For services other than software, remember the alternative deadline: the EDF may be submitted on or before the date payment is received, so if a client pays in early August, filing before that payment arrives keeps you clearly on time.
What if you miss 30 August?
The AD bank may accept a delayed EDF for reasonable cause. Submit as soon as possible with a short note explaining the delay — don't hold it back to combine with August's form. Persistent lateness can create problems: held inward credits, open EDPMS entries and harder conversations with your bank.
