Your deadlines
File your CSB EDF in five steps
Most exporters finish in under five minutes. Next month it's faster — your business and bank details are already filled.
Enter your business once
Name, address, PAN, GSTIN, IE code and exporter category. It's remembered on this device — or in your free account.
Add your bank
Pick your AD bank and branch and enter the AD code (ask your branch if you don't have it).
List the month's invoices
One row per invoice in Part 2B. One EDF can cover every client you billed that month.
Answer the declaration
I/We, who pays, received or to be received, currency. We strike out the words that don't apply for you.
Download and submit
Download the PDF or Word file, sign it and submit it to your bank within 30 days of month end.
EDF for CSB Bank: how to fill and submit it
CSB Bank customers who receive foreign payments for services file their monthly EDF with CSB Bank as their AD bank, using the channel CSB Bank sets out in its own EDF policy. The simplest way to get it right every month is to treat the EDF as a small document pack — form, cover note and supporting papers — prepared the same way each time and submitted within 30 days from the end of the invoice month.
Key takeaways
- If foreign money for your services lands in your CSB Bank account, CSB Bank is normally your AD bank for the EDF.
- Confirm the submission channel, the AD code and attachment requirements with your branch or relationship manager; banks publish their own processes.
- Software exporters outside an SEZ can file with their AD bank or STPI; other services go to the AD bank.
- Most rejections come from simple mismatches: wrong AD code, totals that don't add up, or an unsigned declaration.
The monthly CSB Bank EDF pack
Think of each month's filing as one folder. When everything goes in the same order every time, mistakes stand out.
| Item | What it is | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1. EDF (signed) | The form in the Annex to the 2026 Regulations | Parts 1, 2B and 4 filled; Part 5 left for the bank |
| 2. Cover note | One page listing month, number of invoices, total value | Helps the bank log it quickly |
| 3. Invoice copies | All foreign service invoices of the month | Attach if CSB Bank asks for them |
| 4. Payment evidence | FIRA/FIRC or bank advice for invoices above ₹10 lakh already paid | Plus matching instructions |
| 5. Realisation declaration | For invoices up to ₹10 lakh, if you give it periodically | Separate from the EDF |
| 6. Your register entry | Date, channel, reference, who submitted | Stays with you |
Items 3 to 5 depend on CSB Bank's published policy and your situation, so confirm before you start attaching everything by default.
Setting up with CSB Bank
Find out who handles your exports
Not every branch deals in foreign exchange. Ask your home branch which branch or desk handles export transactions for your account, and get that branch's AD code. The AD code identifies the bank branch for export transactions — it's not the IFSC and not the SWIFT code.
Confirm the channel
Ask whether CSB Bank wants the EDF at the branch, by email to a specific desk, or through a trade portal, and whether it needs a signed original. Record the answer and the name of the person who gave it.
Decide your filing day
Pick a fixed day each month, say the 10th, to prepare the pack. The legal deadline is 30 days from the end of the invoice month, but a fixed early day gives you time to answer bank queries.
Worked example: a Chennai SaaS company
Vellum Stack Technologies Pvt Ltd sells a subscription analytics product to businesses abroad and receives payments into its CSB Bank current account. In February 2027 it raises 14 invoices: 11 small monthly subscriptions and three annual plans.
| Invoice type | Count | Currency | Range per invoice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly subscriptions | 11 | USD | 300 – 1,200 |
| Annual plans | 3 | USD / GBP | 6,000 – 14,000 |
All 14 go on a single February EDF, one row each in Part 2B. Field 1.1 is Software, 1.4 is Internet and 1.5 is Others. The total rupee value goes in 1.22 in figures and words; for a total like ₹34,82,650, the words are "Thirty-Four Lakh Eighty-Two Thousand Six Hundred Fifty Rupees", which our amount in words converter produces instantly.
The EDF is due by 30 March 2027. As a software exporter, Vellum Stack could file with STPI instead, but it chooses CSB Bank because that's where the money lands and the bank is a specified authority on par with STPI.
One annual plan, at USD 14,000, is above ₹10 lakh. When it's paid, Vellum Stack sends the invoice, the FIRA and matching instructions. The other 13 invoices go into its quarterly declaration of realisation.
Slips that get EDFs sent back
Banks don't publish rejection statistics, but the same errors come up again and again in practice.
- AD code from the wrong branch. Using your home branch's code when exports are handled elsewhere.
- Total in 1.22 doesn't match Part 2B. Recalculate after every edit.
- Words and figures disagree. Change one, change both.
- NRV left blank or equal to gross when charges are known. The net realisable value is what you actually expect to realise.
- Part 4 alternatives not struck out. The declaration offers choices — I/We, will be received/has been received, foreign exchange/Indian Rupees, goods/services. Strike out what doesn't apply.
- Unsigned or signed by someone without authority. Use an authorised signatory.
If you bank with CSB Bank and another bank
Some exporters receive money in two banks. The EDF generally goes to the AD bank handling the export, which is normally where the money lands. If a client pays into your other bank, that invoice's EDF row may belong with that bank. Our guide on using multiple banks for exports explains how to split cleanly, but the safest step is to tell both banks how you intend to file and follow their instructions.
When a foreign payment is held
A bank may hold an inward credit until it receives the EDF or other details. If CSB Bank holds a payment, ask exactly what's needed, supply it, and send a short written request to release the funds. Our remittance release request letter covers the essentials.
This is general information, not legal or tax advice. CSB Bank's published EDF policy and your branch's guidance apply to your account.
Frequently asked questions
Does CSB Bank accept the EDF for software exports?
Under the 2026 Regulations, AD banks are specified authorities on par with STPI for software exports outside an SEZ. So you can file software EDFs with CSB Bank as your AD bank, subject to its published process. Confirm the channel with your branch.
How long does CSB Bank take to process the EDF?
The Regulations require the bank to enter the EDF into EDPMS within 5 working days. If you haven't had confirmation after that, follow up with your branch, quoting your submission date and reference.
Can I submit the EDF before my client pays?
Yes. The standard deadline is 30 days from the end of the invoice month, regardless of payment. For services other than software, you may also file on or before the date payment is received if that is earlier.
Do I need to attach FIRAs to every CSB Bank EDF?
Not necessarily. The EDF can be filed before payment. Payment evidence matters when closing EDPMS entries: invoices above ₹10 lakh need the invoice, payment evidence and matching instructions, while smaller invoices can be closed on a declaration of realisation.
What if my SEZ unit banks with CSB Bank?
SEZ units file the EDF with the SEZ Development Commissioner, not the AD bank. Your bank still handles the money, so keep it informed and keep your FIRAs.
Bottom line
Build the same document pack every month, confirm the channel with your branch, and double-check totals before you sign. Start the form with the free CSB Bank EDF form, and read the complete EDF guide for any field you're unsure about.

Part 4 offers pairs of alternatives — I/We, buyer/third party, will be received/has been received, foreign exchange/Indian Rupees. Your answers in step 5 decide which words stay; we draw the line through the rest, exactly as you would with a pen.
The layout follows the structure of RBI's Annex (Parts 1–5, fields 1.1–1.22). If your bank hands you its own printed version, use theirs. This tool is a document generator, not legal or tax advice — you remain the declarant.
EDF form FAQs
What is the EDF form?
The Export Declaration Form (EDF) is the form in the Annex to RBI's Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026. From 1 October 2026, exporters of services declare the full export value on it to their AD bank (or STPI for software, or the SEZ Development Commissioner for SEZ units).
When is the EDF due?
Within 30 days from the end of the month in which the invoice was raised. October 2026 invoices are due by 30 November 2026. For services other than software, you may instead submit on or before the date you receive payment.
Can one EDF cover several clients?
Yes. One EDF can cover all your service exports in a month to one or more recipients. Each invoice gets its own row in Part 2B.
Which parts does a service exporter fill?
Part 1 (general information), Part 2B (services table) and Part 4 (declaration). Part 2A is for goods and Part 3 is for post/courier exports, so service exporters usually leave them blank. Part 5 is for the bank.
Do individual freelancers have to file the EDF?
On 7 October 2026, RBI said individuals providing services abroad are not covered by the reporting requirement and that FAQs will follow. The Regulations' text hasn't changed yet, so check with your bank. Proprietorships, firms, LLPs and companies should assume they are covered.
By when must I get paid?
Within nine months of the invoice date for services, or twelve months if the invoice is in Indian rupees. Your AD bank can extend this on a reasoned request.
What is the AD code and where do I get it?
The AD code identifies the bank branch that handles your export transactions. It is not the IFSC or SWIFT code. Ask your branch or relationship manager — our AD code request letter makes it easy.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Without an account, everything stays in your browser. If you create a free account, your business details and saved EDFs are stored so you can reopen them on any device.
Does the EDF change my GST or income tax?
No. The EDF is a FEMA declaration to your bank. GST (LUT, zero-rated supply) and income tax rules apply separately.
