EDF for Standard Chartered Bank: how to fill and submit it
If your export receipts land in a Standard Chartered account in India, Standard Chartered is your AD bank and receives your monthly EDF. The form is the same RBI Annex every bank uses; what differs is the channel, and with a relationship-managed bank like Standard Chartered the quickest route is to ask your RM how the bank accepts EDFs under its published policy. File within 30 days from the end of the month in which the invoices were raised.
Key takeaways
- Standard Chartered India acts as your AD bank for exports whose proceeds arrive in your account with it.
- Get the AD code for the branch servicing your account; it is not the IFSC or SWIFT code.
- Exporters with clients in several countries can still use one EDF a month, listing each invoice and its own currency.
- Ask your RM for the bank's current EDF submission process instead of relying on assumptions.
- Reconcile each inward remittance advice against the invoice rows so EDPMS entries close.
Who typically banks exports with Standard Chartered
Foreign banks in India often serve companies with international operations: Indian subsidiaries of multinationals, global capability centres, mid-sized IT and consulting firms, and exporters whose clients are spread across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas. Many of these exporters bill in several currencies and have high invoice volumes.
That profile shapes how you should approach the EDF. With many invoices, many currencies and sometimes intra-group billing, accuracy and reconciliation matter more than the form itself.
Questions to settle with your RM before the first filing
| Question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| What is the AD code for the branch servicing our account? | Goes into field 1.6; wrong code means a returned form |
| How does the bank accept EDFs for our account? | Banks publish their own policies under Regulation 19 |
| Does the bank want supporting invoices with the EDF? | Avoids back-and-forth after submission |
| How should we show invoices paid in a different currency from the invoice? | Keeps EDPMS matching clean |
| Who on our side is registered as authorised signatory? | Part 4 must be signed by someone the bank recognises |
| How will we receive inward remittance advices or FIRAs? | Needed for matching and the ₹10 lakh declaration |
We do not describe specific Standard Chartered portal menus, email IDs or turnaround times; they are set by the bank and can change. Your RM's written reply is the best record. If you need the AD code on paper, use our AD code request letter.
Preparing a multi-currency EDF
One EDF per month can cover all service exports of that month to one or more recipients, under Regulation 3(2)(a). Each invoice becomes its own row in Part 2B with its own currency. Field 1.22 shows the total value in rupees.
The work is in the conversion. Choose a documented approach for converting each foreign-currency invoice to INR and apply it consistently. Many exporters align with the rate they use for GST invoicing, but this is a decision to take with your CA. Our Standard Chartered EDF generator totals mixed-currency rows once you enter the rates you have chosen.
A worked example
Meridian Analytics India Pvt Ltd, the Indian arm of a European data group, banks with Standard Chartered. In December 2026 it raised five invoices:
| Invoice | Recipient country | Currency | Amount | Assumed rate (₹) | INR value |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| MAI-1201 | Germany | EUR | 42,000 | 91.00 | 38,22,000 |
| MAI-1202 | Netherlands | EUR | 15,500 | 91.00 | 14,10,500 |
| MAI-1203 | UAE | USD | 12,000 | 84.50 | 10,14,000 |
| MAI-1204 | Singapore | SGD | 9,800 | 65.00 | 6,37,000 |
| MAI-1205 | United Kingdom | GBP | 7,200 | 107.00 | 7,70,400 |
Total in field 1.22: ₹76,53,900. Rates are illustrative only. Meridian lists all five rows in Part 2B, marks mode of delivery as Internet and mode of realisation as Others, and has a director sign Part 4. The EDF is due by 30 January 2027, since the invoices are dated December 2026.
Two of the invoices are to group companies. Meridian checks that the contract numbers and dates in Part 2B match its intra-group service agreement, because the bank and later reviewers will want the trail to make sense.
After submission: matching remittances
The bank must enter your EDF into EDPMS within 5 working days. From then on, each inward remittance should be matched to the invoices it pays.
For invoices above ₹10 lakh (all of Meridian's except MAI-1204 and MAI-1205 in the example), expect to provide the invoice, payment evidence such as a FIRA or bank advice, and matching instructions.
For invoices up to ₹10 lakh, the bank may close the EDPMS entry on your declaration that the amount has been realised. You can give this declaration periodically, for example quarterly. Our realisation declaration tool produces it in the usual format.
Check each remittance advice for the purpose code. A data analytics company might expect codes in the software or technical services family, but the right code depends on the service; confirm with the bank before the credit is processed. Our guide to purpose code mistakes explains why errors here linger.
Keeping the realisation clock in view
Services must be realised within 9 months from the invoice date (12 months for rupee invoices). For a group company that settles intra-group charges in batches, those batches must still land within the window for each invoice. If a delay is coming, request an extension from the bank with reasons before the deadline.

Frequently asked questions
How do I submit an EDF to Standard Chartered in India?
Prepare the EDF in the RBI Annex format and submit it through the channel Standard Chartered specifies for your account. Your relationship manager can confirm whether the bank uses an online facility, email, or physical submission, and what supporting documents it wants.
Can one EDF include invoices in EUR, USD and GBP?
Yes. One EDF per month can cover all your service exports to one or more recipients, with each invoice listed as a separate row in its own currency. The total in field 1.22 is the combined INR value using your consistent conversion approach.
Where do I get the Standard Chartered AD code?
Ask your relationship manager or the branch servicing your account, and keep the written reply. The AD code is specific to export reporting and is different from the IFSC and SWIFT code.
Do intra-group invoices go on the EDF?
Service invoices raised by an Indian company to its foreign group entities are generally exports of services and are listed on the EDF like any other invoice. Make sure the contract details in Part 2B match the intra-group agreement, and take advice on the GST position separately.
What is the EDF due date for December 2026 invoices?
Invoices dated in December 2026 must be covered by an EDF filed by 30 January 2027. The deadline comes from RBI's regulations and is the same at every bank.
Bottom line
With Standard Chartered, a short written exchange with your RM settles the channel, AD code and documents, after which the monthly routine is mostly about accurate multi-currency rows. Build your next form in the Standard Chartered EDF generator and file well before the deadline.

Part 4 offers pairs of alternatives — I/We, buyer/third party, will be received/has been received, foreign exchange/Indian Rupees. Your answers in step 5 decide which words stay; we draw the line through the rest, exactly as you would with a pen.
The layout follows the structure of RBI's Annex (Parts 1–5, fields 1.1–1.22). If your bank hands you its own printed version, use theirs. This tool is a document generator, not legal or tax advice — you remain the declarant.
EDF form FAQs
What is the EDF form?
The Export Declaration Form (EDF) is the form in the Annex to RBI's Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026. From 1 October 2026, exporters of services declare the full export value on it to their AD bank (or STPI for software, or the SEZ Development Commissioner for SEZ units).
When is the EDF due?
Within 30 days from the end of the month in which the invoice was raised. October 2026 invoices are due by 30 November 2026. For services other than software, you may instead submit on or before the date you receive payment.
Can one EDF cover several clients?
Yes. One EDF can cover all your service exports in a month to one or more recipients. Each invoice gets its own row in Part 2B.
Which parts does a service exporter fill?
Part 1 (general information), Part 2B (services table) and Part 4 (declaration). Part 2A is for goods and Part 3 is for post/courier exports, so service exporters usually leave them blank. Part 5 is for the bank.
Do individual freelancers have to file the EDF?
On 7 October 2026, RBI said individuals providing services abroad are not covered by the reporting requirement and that FAQs will follow. The Regulations' text hasn't changed yet, so check with your bank. Proprietorships, firms, LLPs and companies should assume they are covered.
By when must I get paid?
Within nine months of the invoice date for services, or twelve months if the invoice is in Indian rupees. Your AD bank can extend this on a reasoned request.
What is the AD code and where do I get it?
The AD code identifies the bank branch that handles your export transactions. It is not the IFSC or SWIFT code. Ask your branch or relationship manager — our AD code request letter makes it easy.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Without an account, everything stays in your browser. If you create a free account, your business details and saved EDFs are stored so you can reopen them on any device.
Does the EDF change my GST or income tax?
No. The EDF is a FEMA declaration to your bank. GST (LUT, zero-rated supply) and income tax rules apply separately.
