EDF for DBS Bank India: how to fill and submit it
If DBS Bank India receives your foreign client payments, DBS is your AD bank and the place your monthly EDF goes. Before you file, ask your DBS relationship manager or business banking team how DBS accepts EDFs and which AD code applies to your account. The form itself is RBI's standard Annex, the same at every bank; only the submission channel and supporting paperwork vary.
Key takeaways
- DBS Bank India handles the EDF as your AD bank when your export receipts land in your DBS account.
- Field 1.6 needs the DBS AD code for your account's export transactions, not the IFSC or SWIFT code.
- Each bank must publish its own EDF acceptance policy; confirm DBS's current process directly.
- Subsidiaries billing a foreign parent should document who pays and the relationship, using fields 1.15–1.16 and remarks.
- One EDF per month covers all invoices; file within 30 days from the end of the invoice month.
Who this guide is for
This guide is for exporters who bank with DBS Bank India, whether a technology startup, a consultancy or an Indian subsidiary of a foreign group billing its parent or affiliates abroad. All of them need to file the EDF from October 2026 onwards, under the Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026.
The routing rule is the same for everyone:
| Your unit | Where the EDF goes |
|---|---|
| Outside an SEZ, non-software services | DBS, as your AD bank |
| Outside an SEZ, software | DBS or STPI |
| Inside an SEZ | SEZ Development Commissioner |
If DBS is where the foreign money lands, DBS is normally where the EDF belongs.
What to confirm with DBS first
Under Regulation 19, every AD bank must publish how it accepts EDFs. DBS's process may run through a relationship manager, a business banking platform or a trade services team. We do not list menu paths or email addresses because they are DBS's to define and may change. Instead, get clear answers to these questions:
- AD code. Which AD code should I use in field 1.6 for my account? Please confirm in writing.
- Channel. How do you accept EDFs: online, email or physical submission?
- Format. Do you need a wet-signed scan, a physical copy or a digitally signed PDF?
- Attachments. Should invoices or contracts be attached?
- Acknowledgement. How will I know you received it, and on what date?
- Realisation declaration. How do you want the ₹10 lakh declaration, and how often?
- Contact. Who do I contact if an EDPMS entry stays open?
Write the answers in a one-page internal note for whoever files next month. If you want to put the AD code request in writing, our AD code request letter is a quick start.
Group billing through DBS
Indian subsidiaries of foreign companies often bill their parent for services on a cost-plus basis. These are still exports of services, and the invoices go on the EDF like any other.
Two things deserve attention:
- Third party and relationship fields (1.15–1.16). If the payment comes from a group entity other than the one invoiced, these fields and the remarks column explain who paid and why. Ask DBS how it wants this shown.
- Recipient in a group. For GST, Section 2(6) of the IGST Act requires that supplier and recipient are not merely establishments of a distinct person. That is a GST question for your CA, but it affects how you describe the arrangement.
Our article on intra-group cross-charges goes deeper.
Preparing the form
Part 1 for a DBS customer looks like this:
- 1.1 Services or Software
- 1.4 Internet, if delivered online
- 1.5 Category, usually Others for an ordinary company
- 1.6 DBS AD code
- 1.7–1.9 IEC if held, GSTIN, PAN
- 1.10 DBS Bank India, with branch address
- 1.12 Others for direct transfers
- 1.17 Country of final destination
- 1.21–1.22 Description and total INR value, in figures and words
Part 2B lists each invoice. Part 4 is your signed declaration. The DBS version of our EDF form has the bank name set so you only enter branch details and invoices.
Worked example
Lumen Robotics India Pvt Ltd, a Bengaluru subsidiary of a Singapore group, banks with DBS. In October 2026 it raises:
| Invoice | Date | Recipient | Currency | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LRI/26-27/031 | 31-10-2026 | Parent company, Singapore | SGD | 96,000 |
| LRI/26-27/032 | 31-10-2026 | Group affiliate, Japan | USD | 18,400 |
| LRI/26-27/033 | 20-10-2026 | Unrelated client, USA | USD | 6,250 |
One EDF covers all three, due by 30 November 2026. The parent invoice is above ₹10 lakh in rupee terms, so when it is paid Lumen will provide DBS with the invoice, payment evidence and matching instructions. The smaller US invoice may be closed through a realisation declaration.
All three must be realised within nine months of their dates: by 31 July 2027 for the two group invoices and 20 July 2027 for the US client. Group payments can be slower than expected when transfer-pricing reviews run late, so Lumen sets reminders at month six.
After submission
Once DBS enters the EDF into EDPMS, which must happen within five working days, your job is matching:
- Save DBS's acknowledgement of each EDF.
- Collect the FIRA or advice for each receipt and check the purpose code.
- Keep your register current: invoice, EDF month, receipt date, amount, status.
- Send the realisation declaration for invoices up to ₹10 lakh.
- Ask for an extension in writing before nine months if any invoice will be late.
This is general information, not legal or tax advice. DBS's published policy governs the details.
Frequently asked questions
Does DBS Bank India accept EDFs for export of services?
Yes, as an AD bank it receives EDFs from exporters whose receipts land with it. How it accepts them, online, by email or otherwise, depends on DBS's published policy, so confirm with your RM.
Is the DBS EDF format different from other banks?
No. The EDF format is fixed by RBI in the Annex to the 2026 Regulations. DBS may ask for a covering letter or particular signature format, but the fields are the same.
How do I show a payment from a group company that was not invoiced?
Use the third-party fields (1.15 and 1.16) and the remarks column to explain who paid and their relationship. Ask DBS how it prefers this recorded so matching goes smoothly.
Can a software company with DBS file the EDF with STPI instead?
Yes, software exporters outside an SEZ can file with either the AD bank or STPI. Choose one route per month so the same invoices are not declared twice.
When is the October 2026 EDF due?
Invoices dated in October 2026 must be declared by 30 November 2026. The rule is 30 days from the end of the month in which the invoice was raised.
Bottom line
DBS customers file the same EDF as everyone else; the work is in confirming DBS's channel and keeping group billing clearly documented. Settle those once, then file monthly with the free DBS EDF form.

Part 4 offers pairs of alternatives — I/We, buyer/third party, will be received/has been received, foreign exchange/Indian Rupees. Your answers in step 5 decide which words stay; we draw the line through the rest, exactly as you would with a pen.
The layout follows the structure of RBI's Annex (Parts 1–5, fields 1.1–1.22). If your bank hands you its own printed version, use theirs. This tool is a document generator, not legal or tax advice — you remain the declarant.

All 49 banksEDF form FAQs
What is the EDF form?
The Export Declaration Form (EDF) is the form in the Annex to RBI's Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026. From 1 October 2026, exporters of services declare the full export value on it to their AD bank (or STPI for software, or the SEZ Development Commissioner for SEZ units).
When is the EDF due?
Within 30 days from the end of the month in which the invoice was raised. October 2026 invoices are due by 30 November 2026. For services other than software, you may instead submit on or before the date you receive payment.
Can one EDF cover several clients?
Yes. One EDF can cover all your service exports in a month to one or more recipients. Each invoice gets its own row in Part 2B.
Which parts does a service exporter fill?
Part 1 (general information), Part 2B (services table) and Part 4 (declaration). Part 2A is for goods and Part 3 is for post/courier exports, so service exporters usually leave them blank. Part 5 is for the bank.
Do individual freelancers have to file the EDF?
On 7 October 2026, RBI said individuals providing services abroad are not covered by the reporting requirement and that FAQs will follow. The Regulations' text hasn't changed yet, so check with your bank. Proprietorships, firms, LLPs and companies should assume they are covered.
By when must I get paid?
Within nine months of the invoice date for services, or twelve months if the invoice is in Indian rupees. Your AD bank can extend this on a reasoned request.
What is the AD code and where do I get it?
The AD code identifies the bank branch that handles your export transactions. It is not the IFSC or SWIFT code. Ask your branch or relationship manager — our AD code request letter makes it easy.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Without an account, everything stays in your browser. If you create a free account, your business details and saved EDFs are stored so you can reopen them on any device.
Does the EDF change my GST or income tax?
No. The EDF is a FEMA declaration to your bank. GST (LUT, zero-rated supply) and income tax rules apply separately.
