How it works

File your IndusInd EDF in five steps

Most exporters finish in under five minutes. Next month it's faster — your business and bank details are already filled.

  1. Enter your business once

Name, address, PAN, GSTIN, IE code and exporter category. It's remembered on this device — or in your free account.

  2. Add your bank

Pick your AD bank and branch and enter the AD code (ask your branch if you don't have it).

  3. List the month's invoices

One row per invoice in Part 2B. One EDF can cover every client you billed that month.

  4. Answer the declaration

I/We, who pays, received or to be received, currency. We strike out the words that don't apply for you.

  5. Download and submit

Download the PDF or Word file, sign it and submit it to your bank within 30 days of month end.

EDF for IndusInd Bank: how to fill and submit it

If your foreign clients pay into an IndusInd Bank current account, IndusInd is your AD bank and your monthly EDF goes to it. Ask your IndusInd branch or relationship manager how the bank accepts EDFs before your first deadline, because every bank publishes its own acceptance process under the 2026 Regulations, and the form itself is the same standard Annex used across India.

Key takeaways

  • The EDF format is set by RBI, not by IndusInd; the bank's role is to receive it, record it in EDPMS and match payments.
  • You need the AD code of the IndusInd branch that handles your export receipts for field 1.6.
  • The submission channel (branch, email or a trade or net-banking portal) is set by IndusInd's own published policy.
  • File within 30 days from the end of the invoice month, listing every invoice from that month.
  • Keep IndusInd's FIRA or payment advice for each receipt; it is what closes your EDPMS entries.

Why IndusInd receives your EDF

Under the Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026, a service exporter outside an SEZ files the EDF with its AD bank, the Authorised Dealer Category-I bank where foreign money normally lands. Software exporters can choose the AD bank or STPI. SEZ units file with the Development Commissioner instead.

So if your US, UK or Gulf clients wire money into your IndusInd account, IndusInd is the natural home for your EDF. It will enter the form into EDPMS within five working days and match each incoming remittance to an invoice.

Step one: get the AD code

Field 1.6 asks for the AD code. It identifies the IndusInd branch that handles export transactions for your account. It is not your IFSC and not the bank's SWIFT code.

How to get it:

  1. Ask your relationship manager or branch to confirm the AD code linked to your current account, in writing.
  2. Check old export documents: some FIRAs or advices may show it, but confirm rather than assume.
  3. If you need a formal request, use our AD code request letter.

Record the code in your accounting system so whoever prepares the EDF next month does not have to ask again.

Step two: confirm how IndusInd wants the EDF

Regulation 19 requires each bank to publish its policy on how it accepts EDFs. That is why we do not list menu paths or email addresses here: the channel is IndusInd's to define, and it can change. Ask your RM these questions and note the answers:

Question to ask IndusInd Why it matters
Which channel do you accept: branch, email or online trade portal? Determines how and where you submit
Do you need a signed scan, a physical copy or a digitally signed PDF? Avoids resubmission
Do you want invoices attached with the EDF? Some banks ask, some do not
Who acknowledges receipt, and how? You need proof of filing date
How do you prefer to receive the ₹10 lakh realisation declaration? It is separate from the EDF
Who do I contact if an entry stays open? Saves time later

If you have a dedicated relationship manager, they are usually your fastest route. If not, the branch that holds your current account is the starting point. You can also check IndusInd's trade services pages for its published process.

Step three: prepare the form

The EDF your IndusInd branch receives is the standard Annex form. For a typical services exporter:

  • 1.1 Services (or Software)
  • 1.4 Internet, for services delivered online
  • 1.5 Category of exporter, e.g. Others or 100% EOU
  • 1.6 IndusInd AD code
  • 1.7–1.9 IEC (if any), GSTIN, PAN
  • 1.10 IndusInd Bank, with the branch name and address
  • 1.12 Others, for wire transfers and advances
  • 1.17 Country of final destination
  • 1.21–1.22 Description and total INR value in figures and words
  • Part 2B One row per invoice
  • Part 4 Declaration, alternatives struck out, signed

Our IndusInd EDF form pre-fills the bank name so you only add your branch details, AD code and invoices.

A worked example

Coral Reef Media LLP, a Kochi video-production studio, banks with IndusInd. In December 2026 it raises four export invoices:

Invoice Client country Currency Amount Approx. INR
CRM/26-27/088 UAE AED 18,500 ₹4,20,000
CRM/26-27/089 UK GBP 3,200 ₹3,40,000
CRM/26-27/090 USA USD 7,600 ₹6,35,000
CRM/26-27/091 USA USD 2,100 ₹1,75,000

Coral Reef prepares one EDF covering all four, totalling about ₹15,70,000 in field 1.22, and submits it through the channel its RM confirmed, well before 30 January 2027. Because each invoice is below ₹10 lakh, it can later close all four with a single periodic declaration once the money is in. The INR figures above are illustrative; use the rate your CA advises.

After you submit: follow-up with IndusInd

Filing is half the job. Over the following months:

  1. Save the acknowledgement with the date you submitted.
  2. Collect the FIRA or advice for every receipt. Our article on getting FIRA/FIRC from IndusInd explains what to check on it.
  3. Match receipts to invoices in your own register, so you can answer the bank quickly if it asks.
  4. Send the realisation declaration for invoices up to ₹10 lakh, periodically, for example every quarter, if IndusInd accepts it that way.
  5. Watch the nine-month window for each invoice; ask IndusInd for an extension well before it ends if a client is late.

If IndusInd holds an incoming credit pending the EDF, submit the form promptly and reply to the branch with the acknowledgement. This is general information, not legal or tax advice.

Frequently asked questions

Does IndusInd Bank have its own EDF format?

The EDF format is prescribed by RBI in the Annex to the 2026 Regulations. IndusInd decides how it accepts the form, through its published policy, but the fields are standard. Ask your branch whether it needs any covering letter.

Where do I find my IndusInd AD code?

Ask your relationship manager or the branch that holds your current account to confirm it in writing. It is a separate code from IFSC and SWIFT, used specifically for export transactions.

Can I email my EDF to IndusInd?

That depends on IndusInd's current acceptance policy. Some banks accept email, others prefer a branch submission or a trade portal. Confirm the channel with your RM before your first deadline.

What if my clients pay into another bank as well?

The EDF should go to the bank where the foreign money for those invoices lands. If some clients pay into IndusInd and others into a different bank, ask both banks how they want the invoices declared before you file.

When is my IndusInd EDF due?

Within 30 days from the end of the month in which the invoices were raised. December 2026 invoices are due by 30 January 2027. For services other than software, you may also submit on or before the date payment is received.

Bottom line

IndusInd handles your EDF the way every AD bank does: receive, record, match and close. Your job is to know the AD code, use the bank's published channel and file on time. Start with the free IndusInd EDF form and keep the due date table bookmarked.

Questions

EDF form FAQs

What is the EDF form?

The Export Declaration Form (EDF) is the form in the Annex to RBI's Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026. From 1 October 2026, exporters of services declare the full export value on it to their AD bank (or STPI for software, or the SEZ Development Commissioner for SEZ units).

When is the EDF due?

Within 30 days from the end of the month in which the invoice was raised. October 2026 invoices are due by 30 November 2026. For services other than software, you may instead submit on or before the date you receive payment.

Can one EDF cover several clients?

Yes. One EDF can cover all your service exports in a month to one or more recipients. Each invoice gets its own row in Part 2B.

Which parts does a service exporter fill?

Part 1 (general information), Part 2B (services table) and Part 4 (declaration). Part 2A is for goods and Part 3 is for post/courier exports, so service exporters usually leave them blank. Part 5 is for the bank.

Do individual freelancers have to file the EDF?

On 7 October 2026, RBI said individuals providing services abroad are not covered by the reporting requirement and that FAQs will follow. The Regulations' text hasn't changed yet, so check with your bank. Proprietorships, firms, LLPs and companies should assume they are covered.

By when must I get paid?

Within nine months of the invoice date for services, or twelve months if the invoice is in Indian rupees. Your AD bank can extend this on a reasoned request.

What is the AD code and where do I get it?

The AD code identifies the bank branch that handles your export transactions. It is not the IFSC or SWIFT code. Ask your branch or relationship manager — our AD code request letter makes it easy.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. Without an account, everything stays in your browser. If you create a free account, your business details and saved EDFs are stored so you can reopen them on any device.

Does the EDF change my GST or income tax?

No. The EDF is a FEMA declaration to your bank. GST (LUT, zero-rated supply) and income tax rules apply separately.
