Jaipur's service exporters (IT and ITES firms, design studios, travel-tech start-ups, back offices and freelancers turned agencies) all fall under the same rule from 1 October 2026: one EDF a month listing every foreign invoice, submitted within 30 days from the end of the month. Where it goes depends on your set-up. Most Jaipur businesses outside an SEZ file with the AD bank where their foreign payments land; units inside an SEZ file with the SEZ Development Commissioner; software exporters can also choose STPI.
Key takeaways
- The EDF is the same form for a Jaipur business as for one in Bengaluru. Only your bank branch, AD code and filing channel are local.
- Outside an SEZ: file with your AD bank (or STPI for software). Inside an SEZ: file with the Development Commissioner.
- Many Jaipur businesses export both goods (jewellery, textiles, handicrafts) and services (design, digital marketing). Keep the two separate.
- Your bank publishes its own process for accepting EDFs. Ask your branch, not a neighbour's branch.
- Build a fixed monthly routine around the 30-day window and the ₹10 lakh realisation declaration.
Who exports services from Jaipur
We are not quoting statistics, but anyone who works with Jaipur businesses will recognise these profiles:
| Type of business | Typical foreign clients | Points to watch on the EDF |
|---|---|---|
| IT and software companies | US, UK and Gulf clients for development and support | Software or services in field 1.1; AD bank or STPI |
| ITES and back-office firms | Overseas businesses outsourcing data, support or accounts | Choosing SAC and purpose codes correctly |
| Design studios (jewellery, textile, interiors, brand) | Foreign brands and retailers | Separate design services from any goods sold |
| Digital marketing agencies | Overseas small businesses and e-commerce sellers | Advertising codes; retainers billed monthly |
| Travel-tech and hospitality services | Foreign travel companies | Place of supply questions under GST; ask your CA |
| SEZ units | Global clients | File with the SEZ Development Commissioner |
Jaipur also has SEZ capacity for IT and related services, and STPI has a presence in Rajasthan. If you are not sure whether your premises count as an SEZ unit, check your approval documents; it changes where your EDF goes.
Where to file: a quick decision table
| Your situation | Where your EDF goes |
|---|---|
| Services other than software, outside an SEZ | AD bank where foreign money is credited |
| Software services, outside an SEZ | AD bank or STPI (your choice) |
| Unit inside an SEZ | SEZ Development Commissioner |
| Goods through EDI ports | Shipping bill serves as the EDF |
Your AD bank is normally the Authorised Dealer Category-I bank where your foreign receipts arrive. Plenty of public and private banks operate in Jaipur; what matters is which branch handles export transactions for your account and what AD code it gives you. If the branch is unsure, put the question in writing.
Mixed goods and services businesses
This is the Jaipur-specific wrinkle. A family business might ship gemstone jewellery to a US retailer and also bill that retailer separately for custom design work. Or a textile exporter might sell fabric and also charge a European brand for print design and sampling services.
The goods side follows the goods process: at EDI ports the shipping bill serves as the EDF. The service invoices go on a separate monthly services EDF to your AD bank, with Part 2A left blank and each service invoice in Part 2B. Do not mix goods and services on one form, and do not put a design fee inside a goods invoice if it is really a separate service; ask your CA how your contracts should be structured. Our explainer on EDF for services vs goods covers the split.
A practical monthly routine
| When | Task |
|---|---|
| 1st–5th | List last month's foreign service invoices: client, country, currency, amount, SAC, contract reference |
| 6th–12th | Prepare the EDF; total in figures and words in field 1.22 |
| 13th–18th | Signature by an authorised signatory; covering letter |
| By the 25th | Submit through your bank's published channel (well before the 30-day deadline) |
| A week later | Ask the branch to confirm EDPMS entry (banks have 5 working days) |
| Quarter-end | Realisation declaration for paid invoices up to ₹10 lakh |
| Ongoing | Collect FIRAs for each receipt; chase any invoice older than six months |
A short EDF cover letter listing the invoices helps the branch log your submission against the right account. The EDF due dates table lists the deadline for every month.
A worked example
Pink Slate Technologies Pvt Ltd, a Jaipur software company outside any SEZ, builds booking platforms for overseas travel operators. Its parent family business, Ramdev Jewels, separately exports finished jewellery.
Pink Slate's January 2027 invoices:
| Invoice | Client | Country | Currency | Amount | INR value |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PST/27/011 | Dunmore Tours Ltd | UK | GBP | 8,400 | ₹8,93,000 |
| PST/27/012 | Al Noor Travel LLC | UAE | AED | 36,000 | ₹8,18,000 |
| PST/27/013 | Kestrel Adventures Pty Ltd | Australia | AUD | 5,200 | ₹2,86,000 |
Pink Slate files one EDF with "Software" in field 1.1, three rows in Part 2B and ₹19,97,000 in field 1.22, written as "Rupees Nineteen Lakh Ninety-Seven Thousand Only". January invoices are due by 2 March 2027, since February 2027 has 28 days. Pink Slate chose its AD bank over STPI to keep the EDF and the money in one place.
Ramdev Jewels' shipments follow the goods process and never touch Pink Slate's services EDF. All three Pink Slate invoices are under ₹10 lakh, so it can close EDPMS entries with a quarterly realisation declaration once paid.
Local habits worth building
- Keep one finance contact per bank relationship. In family-run groups, several people often talk to the same branch; route EDF queries through one person.
- Match names exactly. Use the legal name on your bank account in field 1.11, not the brand name used with clients.
- Separate accounts for separate entities. If a design studio and a goods exporter share a family, they should not share a current account for export receipts.
- Update the bank when signatories change. A son or daughter joining the business may need to be added to the mandate before they can sign Part 4.

Frequently asked questions
Where do Jaipur service exporters submit the EDF?
Outside an SEZ, to the AD bank where foreign payments are credited, or to STPI for software exports. SEZ units submit to the SEZ Development Commissioner. Each bank publishes its own submission process.
Is the EDF different for Jaipur businesses?
No. The form, deadlines and realisation rules are the same across India. Only your branch, AD code and submission channel are local.
We export jewellery and also sell design services. How many EDFs?
Goods follow the goods process, with the shipping bill serving as the EDF at EDI ports. Design services go on a separate monthly services EDF to your AD bank.
Can a Jaipur software company file with STPI instead of the bank?
Yes, if it is outside an SEZ. AD banks and STPI are both specified authorities for software, and STPI certification is no longer mandatory.
What is the deadline for Jaipur exporters?
Thirty days from the end of the invoice month: October 2026 invoices by 30 November 2026, November 2026 invoices by 30 December 2026.
Bottom line
For Jaipur's service exporters, the EDF is a national form with a local delivery address: your bank branch, STPI or the SEZ office. Keep goods and services separate, build a monthly routine and submit early. The free EDF form generator gets the form ready in minutes.
