EDF Due Date for November 2026 Invoices: File by 30 December 2026

If you raised export invoices for services in November 2026, your EDF is due by 30 December 2026: the rule is 30 days from the end of the month in which the invoice was raised. One EDF can cover every November invoice to every foreign client, and for services other than software you may instead file on or before the date payment is received if that comes first.

Key takeaways

  • November 2026 invoices: EDF due 30 December 2026 (Regulation 3(2)).
  • Alternative for non-software services: submit on or before the date the payment is received.
  • One EDF for the whole month, one row per invoice.
  • Each November invoice must be realised within 9 months of its own date, so between 1 August and 30 August 2027.
  • December is holiday season for many foreign clients and Indian teams. File early.

How the date is worked out

November 2026 ends on 30 November. Thirty days from the end of the month lands on 30 December 2026. That is the outer limit for invoices dated anywhere from 1 November to 30 November 2026.

Invoice month EDF due date
October 2026 30 November 2026
November 2026 30 December 2026
December 2026 30 January 2027
January 2027 2 March 2027

The full table is on our EDF due dates page, and the due date calculator works out any date for you.

The payment-date alternative

For services other than software, the Regulations allow the EDF to be submitted on or before the date payment is received. If a client pays a 5 November invoice on 20 November, filing by 20 November satisfies that alternative. Most exporters simply file once a month after month-end, which meets the 30-day rule without tracking payment dates. Software exporters should use the 30-day rule.

What if you miss it

The AD bank may accept a delayed EDF for reasonable cause. Do not wait: file as soon as you notice, with a short explanation. Meanwhile, the bank may hold inward credits related to the unfiled month. Our guide on missing the EDF deadline has the steps.

Realisation deadlines for November invoices

The EDF deadline is about declaring. Realisation is about getting paid: full value must be realised within 9 months from each invoice date for services (12 months if invoiced in rupees).

Invoice date Realisation deadline (9 months)
1 November 2026 1 August 2027
10 November 2026 10 August 2027
15 November 2026 15 August 2027
20 November 2026 20 August 2027
30 November 2026 30 August 2027

Note these are per invoice. Two invoices dated 3 and 28 November have deadlines 25 days apart. Your AD bank can extend the period on a reasoned request.

A worked example

Quill & Pixel Media LLP in Kolkata produces explainer videos and runs social media for clients in the UK, US and Netherlands. It raises five invoices in November 2026:

Invoice Date Client country Amount
QP/EX/88 04-11-2026 UK GBP 2,400
QP/EX/89 04-11-2026 US USD 3,000
QP/EX/90 12-11-2026 Netherlands EUR 4,100
QP/EX/91 25-11-2026 US USD 1,250
QP/EX/92 30-11-2026 UK GBP 900

All five go on one EDF with five rows. The LLP aims to file by 7 December, well ahead of the year-end slowdown. At illustrative book rates (GBP ₹110, USD ₹84, EUR ₹92), the total is ₹2,64,000 + ₹2,52,000 + ₹3,77,200 + ₹1,05,000 + ₹99,000 = ₹10,97,200. Field 1.22 shows the figure and the words, Rupees Ten Lakh Ninety-Seven Thousand Two Hundred only.

Each invoice individually is under ₹10 lakh, so the bank may close each EDPMS entry on the LLP's periodic declaration once the money arrives. Realisation deadlines run from 4 August 2027 (QP/EX/88 and 89) to 30 August 2027 (QP/EX/92).

Planning around the December holidays

December brings Christmas and New Year breaks for many clients abroad, and year-end leave for Indian teams. That affects you in three ways:

  • Bank staff and your approvers may be away in the last week of December. Do not plan to file on 29 or 30 December.
  • Clients pay later. November invoices due in December may slip into January. That is fine for the 9-month window, but note it.
  • Signatories travel. If your director or partner signs the EDF, get the signature before they leave.

A sensible target is to file November's EDF in the first ten days of December.

Other compliances around the same time

The EDF sits alongside your other routines in December. At a high level:

  • GST returns for November fall due in December. Check exact dates on the GST portal, since they vary by return type and taxpayer category.
  • The ₹10 lakh realisation declaration, if you give it quarterly, may fall due around the quarter-end your bank uses. Ask your bank. Our realisation declaration tool prepares it.
  • Advance tax for companies and individuals has a mid-December instalment under income-tax rules. Confirm with your CA.

The EDF does not change GST or income tax. This is general information, not legal or tax advice.
